Services for Nonprofit Organizations

The Organizational Membership

Any nonprofit organization that is located or based in the City of Erie may join Community Access Television as an organizational member. At a cost of $60.00 annually for the organization, plus $20.00 for each person listed on their membership, we provide television production training, the use of our studio and equipment, and television air time on Channel 2 in the City of Erie. Each person on the membership attends one orientation and a series of six Level I training classes, and is then certified to use our equipment to produce programming of any kind.

At no additional cost, except for tapes and anything desired to enhance the appearance of your program, such as furniture, signs, or drapes, you will have complete access to everything needed to produce a single program or a series of programs that appear on Channel 2 and that you can duplicate for use within your organization. Member organizations have found that the biggest cost to them is their time.

Nonprofit Member Production Services
Many nonprofit organizations are too small, too stretched, or too busy to afford the time it takes to learn how to produce their own programming.  Community Access Television can help with our Nonprofit Member Production Services program.  Although our staff ordinarily remains hands-off while our members are shooting and editing their programs, our Member Production Services program provides much more help.  At a cost of $50.00 per hour, our Production Coordinator will work directly with the organization to plan, shoot, and edit their program.  Before the time-clock starts ticking, we will work out a plan with you and estimate the bottom-line cost.  You will remain closely involved and will actually select your guests, write the script outline, and be in control of how the program looks, but we will advise you, shoot and edit the show with either your CAT-trained staff or our volunteer members, and deliver a program that meets or exceeds your standards.  For more information, contact Jeanne Bleil or Shawn Phelps at 455-2226.

Community Bulletin Board

CAT posts the details and contact information for any nonprofit event in the Erie metropolitan area on our scrolling video bulletin board. This is a free service to members and nonmembers alike. As with all of our services, it is first-come, first-served and limited to space available. You can mail, fax, or email the information to us.

Not enough time? Not enough people?

Many nonprofits are very small or so tightly staffed that it is difficult to free up enough staff members, or find enough volunteers, to take the necessary training and to then spend the time that it takes to produce the programming that is desired. For such organizations, Community access television has a Member Production Services program to help you meet your goals.

You will remain closely involved and will actually select your guests, write the script outline, and be in control of how the program looks. We will advise you, shoot and edit the show either with your CAT-trained staff or our volunteer members, and deliver a program that meets or exceeds your standards.
