Level I
Level I classes
are held once a week for six weeks and are generally about two hours in length.
They are taught by production coordinator Shawn Phelps or by one of a number of
local professionals who work with us on a contract basis.
You will learn basic television production in Level I, starting
with cameras and composition, and going through lighting, audio, editing, and
post-production. Before the end of level I, you will have produced a short video
with the help of your fellow classmates. Upon receiving your certificate, you
will be able to reserve our studio and control room and schedule your first
studio production. You will also receive a copy of the
Member's Handbook which provides a brief overview of CAT rules.
As soon as you have completed Level I training, your name and
phone number will be added to our list of trained members and you may start
receiving calls from other members seeking assistance. You are urged to help out
when you can because it is by doing that you will learn. By helping others, you
will also meet people who may agree to help you with your own productions.
Community Access Television also offers a
Level II
class and workshops.
In addition, CAT produces programming during several
summer
festivals and at other times during the year. These are opportunities for
you to gain experience as well as give back to the community. They are also
exciting and great fun!
